After Treatment

After Treatment

From our experience, the patients are sensitive to acupuncture and herbs, which also can be said about lots of people around the world, this condition is different from the people in Asia.
This main difference is because in Asia they have tradition of 5000 years of using herbs and acupuncture, so their stomach is less sensitive to herbs which if being compared to the west, here we have history of only few years.
After starting acupuncture, the patient will feel sensation, although its subjective, but there are few options: heaviness, fullness, burning or heat sensation, also can be radiation from one area to another area. There are quite few people who describe it as kind of pain but very mild pain which isn’t the same as the usual pain.
A patient being acupunctured for first time usually afterwards will show tiredness so the best thing to do is, have a rest and not continue with the usual life.

Usually after treatment can expect one of the four reactions:
Immediate improvement- after few days the condition will slowly return to the beginning but not sure to the same level, so the best thing is at that time do again acupuncture, usually can see in problems, like: pain.

Aggravation and afterwards improvement- the needles make stimulation to the area which have problem, so sometimes there is some aggravation and afterwards it becomes better, for example: if there is some pain, after putting needles the circulation of the Qi in the area will get better and than the pain will be less.
Condition is static- there are sometimes when you don’t have any improvement or aggravation.
Aggravation- rare condition, which is made by wrong diagnosis or wrong treatment.

Taking Chinese herbs its little different, meaning when patient come from any reason to get treatment, if you look at the big picture, there is disharmony in the body and after few treatments there will be improvement or not, which could be more visualized to the patient in the immediate time but afterwards the improvement will be less visualized to the patient itself but will be more diagnosed by the practitioner in the tongue and pulse diagnosis. This is why, usually we prescribe herbs, in the beginning, for one week to see how the patient is dealing with the taste of the herbs and the body is dealing with them.
When giving herbs the most important thing to see is the adjustment of the digestive system because it will be the first place which will have some change, for example: can have symptoms of this system: abdomen fullness, lower appetite, loose stool or constipation, so need to pay attention.
